Formal consultation - Horton-in-Ribblesdale Primary School

This consultation has now closed. At their meeting on 21 February 2017, the executive determined that the required school organisation process had been followed correctly, and for the reasons set out in section 12 of the report, being viability and educational considerations, agreed to approve the proposal, subject to a modification to the closure date, to close Horton-in-Ribblesdale Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School from 31 August 2017.

An appeal against the decision to cease to maintain Horton-in-Ribblesdale CE (VA) Primary School has been referred to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator.

The adjudicator appointed to determine this case, Mr David Lennard Jones, is chairing a public meeting at the school on Wednesday 24 May at 6.30pm, to enable all those who wish to do so to present their views directly to him. If you are unable to attend, or prefer to address comments in writing, please send them by email to osa.team@osa.gsi.gov.uk.

Governing body proposal to close Rathmell Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School

This consultation closed on 24 March 2017.

The statutory notice on the proposal to close the school has now been published.

Within four weeks from 11 May 2017, any person may object to or make comments on the proposal by sending them to Corporate Director - Children and Young People's Service, North Yorkshire County Council, County Hall, Northallerton DL7 8AE, by 5pm on 8 June 2017.

Proposed school admission arrangements for 2018-19This consultation closed on 20 January 2017.
Consultation on the proposal to close Drax Community Primary SchoolThis consultation closed on 12 December 2016.

Elected members of the county council's executive met on 31 January 2017 and considered the outcomes of the public consultation. Following careful consideration, they agreed to publish statutory proposals to close the school from 31 August 2017.

The statutory proposals were published on 16 February 2017 to run to 16 March 2017, with a final decision being made by the executive on 28 March 2017.

Consultation on the federation of Hackness C.E. Primary School and Wykeham C.E. Primary SchoolThis consultation closed on 8 July 2016.
St Joseph's Catholic Primary School closure consultationThis consultation closed on 16 June 2016.
The Governing Body of St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Bishop Thornton met on 21 June 2016. It carefully considered the responses to the consultation and decided to ask the County Council to publish statutory proposals to cease to maintain the school.
The County Council's Executive Committee will meet on 5 July in response to the request from the Governing Body.
It will view the outcomes of the public consultation carried out by the governing body on the proposal to close the school and consider authorising the publication of proposals and statutory notices.
If the Executive decides to proceed with the closure proposal, then statutory notices would be published in the local press. These notices provide a further four weeks for views to be made.
A final decision would then be made by the Executive on 16 August 2016. 
Eskdale School and Caedmon College amalgamationThis consultation closed on 5 April 2016.
Bedale Children's Centre consultationThis consultation closed on 11 March 2016. At a meeting on 10 May 2016, the Executive  agreed  to the change of use and a transfer to an early years provider.
Brayton High School and Selby High School consultationThis consultation closed on 26 February 2016.

Consultation on proposal to close Farnley Primary SchoolNorth Yorkshire County Council's executive met on 27 October 2015 and decided that the proposal to close Farnley Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School should go ahead. See the consultation page for full details.
Rossett children's centre consultationThis consultation has now closed. At a meeting of the Executive on 8 December 2015, the Executive agreed to the premises at Rossett being transferred to Rossett Acre Primary School for the provision of 2, 3 and 4 year old places.
Derwent Valley children's centre consultationThis consultation has now closed. At a meeting on 27 October 2015, the Executive Member agreed to the premises at Derwent Valley being transferred to East Ayton School for early years provision subject to a successful planning application to the North York Moors National Park Authority.
Filey children's centre consultationThis consultation has now closed. At a meeting on 27 October 2015, the Executive Member agreed to the rooms being transferred back to the schools in which they are located.
The future of Skipton children's centre satellite venuesThis consultation has now closed. At a meeting on 27 October 2015, the Executive Member agreed to the rooms being transferred back to the schools in which they are located.
Boroughbridge chldren's centre reviewThis consultation has now closed. At a meeting on 27 October 2015, the Executive Member agreed to the premises being returned to the surgery.

This consultation has now closed. On 24 February 2015 the Executive Member for Schools determined that the required school organisation process had been followed correctly and that the proposal should be implemented.

Proposal to create an 11-19 school for the Whitby area

This consultation has now closed. At their meeting on 27 May 2014, the executive determined that the required school organisation process had been followed correctly and that:

1. Caedmon School be discontinued with effect from 31 August 2014; and
2. Whitby Community College be expanded and alter its lower age limit from 14 to 11 with effect from 1 September 2014.
